Geocaching trackables like Travel Bugs or Geocoins are an exciting part of the geocaching adventure. They have a unique tracking number and can travel from cache to cache. To start your trackable's journey, you first need to activate it. Here's how:
1. Find the tracking code
Each trackable item has a unique tracking code , usually engraved on the item itself. You need this code for activation.
2. Go to Geocaching.com
Log in to Geocaching.com with your account. You cannot activate a trackable without an account.
3. Open the activation page
Go to “Trackables” → “Activate a Trackable” or click directly here.
4. Enter activation code
In addition to the tracking code, you will need the activation code , which is usually printed on the packaging or included elsewhere. If you can't find it, you can request it via the "Retrieve Activation Code" page.
5. Add details
Give your trackable a name , a description , and optionally a photo . This way, other geocachers will know what the mission is.
6. Activate and get started
Click on “Activate” – your trackable is now ready for its journey! Place it in a cache and track its route online.
